The public transit in Lima Peru consists predominantly of city busses.
Although travel by bus is inexpensive, the busses are often crowded and
uncomfortable. A number of private companies operate inter-urban buses
from Lima. The quality of service varies by company and price.
A metro service is currently under construction in Lima but is not
expected to be operational until 2009. Taxi service is inexpensive in Lima
and is often the best mode of transportation for tourists.
